Finding My Place in History
In the spirit of RIB (Reading in Blobs), I've dusted off a book my husband acquired some time ago during his management training phase.
Forbes Great Technology Stories is all about me. At least it is all about my geek career field. Companies and products I've heard about or known first hand pepper the pages like old friends: IBM, UNIVAC, DEC, Texas Instruments, DARPA, even Hollerith. No, I wasn't around in the Hollerith days, but my first computer experience was an IBM 1620 in college. I cut my programmer teeth in FORTRAN on a UNIVAC 1108 at Lockheed. When I switched from aerospace to business, COBOL on IBM 360/370 was my bread and butter.
I'm only half-way through the book, but I see PC's in my future.
