History Project

There's not a lot to do here in winter, except haul wood in and stoke the stove. So I have a couple of reading projects going.

I started Will Durant's Story of Civilization last winter and actually got through the first 3 volumes. The 4th, The Age of Faith, is 1100 pages and I've only scratched the surface, carried along by the beginnings of Christianity at the end of Caesar and Christ. It's heavy going, as are all his volumes at the start.

Why am I suddenly interested in history, you may well ask, if you know me as a math major computer geek. That's why. In some ways I'm emerging from a high tech cocoon, beginning to fly and seeing a wider horizon. Such things come with age.
